
It happened the very first day of school that fall. That was the day the perfect young girl came face to face with Trouble. And the trouble with this particular Trouble was she found herself so drawn to him. She was the moth to his flame.


Daryl doesn’t know if it’s bad luck on his part, or karma on Merle’s, when he gets wind of a rumour that the local sheriff is looking for a hunter. He decides to move on. Stay as far from this kingdom as he can, where thoughts of Merle and his plans for greatness don’t make his heart hurt. He can’t rely on anybody for anything.

Over time finding her family had begun to take a back seat to just surviving and living to see another day. She had to face the fact that she may never find them. She had to put herself first. Over time the hope she’d carried deep in her bones eventually dwindled until she could hardly feel it anymore.

This story follows the events of The Walking Dead Season 5 Midseason finale, and is an alternate tragic ending to the Beth and Daryl fan fiction “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”.
