Instead of facing his feelings Daryl decides to do what he does best and runs from them, even if that means ignoring Beth who returned to him after surviving a gunshot to the head.

Over time finding her family had begun to take a back seat to just surviving and living to see another day. She had to face the fact that she may never find them. She had to put herself first. Over time the hope she’d carried deep in her bones eventually dwindled until she could hardly feel it anymore.
Instead of going out and seeing the car with the white cross, Daryl leaves on his own to go wait for his girl, and Beth escapes the hospital with Noah at the end of “Slabtown”
Beth wants to try something new in the bedroom. Daryl is more than happy to oblige.
Some days are still hard. Some days Beth slips into a gray fog, and has to fight her way out. But Daryl can remind her that she can still feel good. His little girl just had a bad dream. It’s over now.
Every night since her fateful arrival to Alexandria, Daryl wakes her up with a pinch, and Beth is determined to make him stop doing so.
